History of Mikrotik

Mikrotik is a small company headquartered in Latvia, adjacent to Russia. Its formation was initiated by John Trully and Arnis Riekstins. John Trully is an American citizen who immigrated to Latvia. In Latvia he met with Arnis, a Physics and Mechanical scholar circa 1995.
John and Arnis began routing the world in 1996 (the Mikrotik mission is routing the whole world). Starting with Linux and MS-DOS systems combined with 2 Mbps Aeronet Wireless-LAN (WLAN) technology in Moldova, neighboring Latvia, and then serving five customers in Latvia.
Their basic principle is not to make Wireless ISP (W-ISP), but make the router program that is reliable and can run all over the world. Latvia is only the site of John and Arnis's experiments, as they are now helping other countries including Srilanka serving about 400 users.
Understanding Mikrotik
Mikrotik is an operating system along with software installed in a computer so that the computer is already installed can be operated. As for the computer yag already connected with mikrotik acts as the heart of the network, controller, data traffic controller.
So mikrotik is a special operating system used for routers. In addition Mikrotik term is also familiar called the OS Router that has a reliable function and have many features that support the smooth network.
Excess Mikrotik
Compared with other router routers, Mikrotik is very suitable and strong when used as a router in a large component, especially if the physically seen in a router mikrotik.

Needs a lot of electricity.
Very often bad sectors harddisk.
A little too fragile when carried anywhere to a place far away.


Type Mikrotik / Mikrotik Level
Mikrotik is not free software if you want to fully utilize it, it takes a license from Mikrotiks to be able to use it aka berb.Mikrotik known as Level on the license. Available from Level 0 then 1, 3 to 6, for Level 1 is Demo version Mikrotik can be used for free with very limited functions. Of course each level has different capabilities in accordance with the price, Level 6 is the highest level with the most complete function. Briefly described as follows:
Level 0 (free); Does not require a license to use it and feature use is limited only 24 hours after installation.
Level 1 (demo); At this level you can use it as a standard routing function with 1 setting and no time limitations to use it.
Level 3; Already includes level 1 plus the ability to manage any hardware based on Network Card or Ethernet and client-type wireless device management.
Level 4; Already includes levels 1 and 3 plus the ability to manage wireless access point access points.
Level 5; Including levels 1, 3 and 4 plus the ability to manage more number of hotspot users.
Level 6; Covers all levels and has no limitation whatsoever.
